Individual, Couples and Family Counseling in Orange and Riverside Counties
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of clinical experience and training. I earned my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work in 1989 from USC where I specialized in Mental Health, and had a sub-specialization in Children and Families.
I have had the pleasure of working with individuals, couples, families and groups ranging in age from two through adulthood. Issues I commonly help people resolve include but are not limited to coping with relationship difficulties, life and career transitions, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, depression and anxiety, parenting, learning and behavioral issues.
Throughout my years of training, I treated a variety of clinical diagnosis from depression, anxiety, childhood disorders, and mood disorders to thought disorders and personality disorders. Most importantly, I work with the whole individual person. I realized early on that the world isn’t made for any one of us. We each have to create our own way of thinking and being successful in getting things done. It is with much pride and joy that I have helped countless clients do just that.
Beautiful human beings come in struggling with emotional pain, including low self-esteem, self-hatred, fear, sadness, body image issues and eating disorders, and extreme guilt over issues they had little control over. Additionally, they come in struggling with issues related to grief, severe illness, death, dying, and hopelessness, as well as trauma caused by both past and present occurrences, abandonment, loneliness, and isolation. Clients also come in to deal with work-related issues such as not feeling good enough, lack of motivation, stress, bullying and sexual harassment.
Growing up is hard enough today for children, but even more difficult when they are experiencing bullying, poor school performance, school phobias, behavioral issues, not fitting in, isolation, anxiety, and self-mutilation. My work with individuals has helped them learn to cope and make the most of the changes life presents, while empowering each individual to find their voice and use it to help identify, explore and change the negative subconscious thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors that have kept them from enjoying the relationships and lives they so long for and desire.
I have, without a doubt, walked alongside of many during their lowest moments. However, I have also walked alongside many during their brightest moments their most successful moments, their beautiful dreams achieved moments. To be successful, we must see the good. Therapy is not just about coping with the negative aspects of our lives, but also learning to rejoice and celebrate that which is wonderful in our lives. It is about the whole experience that life has to offer; the good with the bad, the happy with the sad. Therapy is a process, filled with both enrichment and healing.
I believe we grow as individuals not only by relishing in our successes, but also by having the strength to closely examine our perceived mistakes. I have learned from each wonderful client that has blessed my life that emotions connect us all. Our lives and circumstances may all be different, but we all feel emotions the same way.
I promise you I will walk alongside you as you learn to navigate varying emotions. Also, I give you my assurance that the work we do together will be suited to meet your unique needs and goals while creating the relationships and life you desire.
